Donata Favretto was born in Vicenza on August, 4th, 1961.
Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, University of Padova, Italy. Major in Chemical method for Analysis and Control, University of Padova, Italy.
1990 – 2001: Researcher at National Council of Researches, Mass Spectrometry Division, Padova
2001 - 2006: Chemist at Forensic Toxicology and Antidoping Department, Padova University Hospital.
2006- : Associate Professor at Padova University, Discipline: Forensic Toxicology. She is teaching Forensic Toxicology, Legal Medicine, Analytical chemistry, Public Health. She is responsible of the Laboratory of Forensic Toxicology and Antidoping, Padova University Hospital. She is carrying out her research activity at the Department of Cardiologic Sciences and Public Health in Padova From 1990 to 2001, her research activity was devoted mainly to the technological develpments in analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry and to the identificatiion of new bioactive compounds; from 2001, her research activity has been committed to forensic toxicology and legal medicine. She has been developing researches applied to: acute and chronic poisoning, in vivo and post-mortem identification and dosage of drugs, determination of drugs and drugs of abuse in non-conventional matrices, dosages of psychoactive drugs for assessing brain death, therapeutic drug monitoring, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, application of the “omics” approach to the field of forensic medicine, discovery of biomarkers of disease.
She is author or co-author of more than 150 contributions published on international, peer reviewed journals and book chapters.
She is a member of “The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists” (TIAFT). In 2006 she was awarded the best Published Paper of the Young Scientists Committee of the TIAFT.
She is a member of the board of the Society of Hair Testing.
